Conscious Captivity

Media: Acrylic, Vinyl

Materials: Canvas

Frame: Wood Float Frame- Black

This painting is composed of two 20” x 20” canvas panels. The composition of this piece was dictated by a certain emotion I was feeling while I positioned the vinyl upon the canvas. I was feeling caged, trapped, held captive, not physically, but intellectually and completely being aware that this was occurring and not knowing what to do about it. Which in my opinion is the most frightening. While the painting progressed along with my mood, I felt a rush of activity to find a way out of the situation. How I felt if trying to break free and find a light at the end of the tunnel. I didn’t want to be focused on the “bars” anymore, rather the movement of the light and the warmth beyond where only salvation can be realized.
